Cloud adoption is a significant undertaking that requires a full project management approach. Failure to adequately prepare can lead to disappointment. We follow a process developed by AWS from their own customer experiences called the Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF)
CAF looks at six Perspectives
The purpose of these perspectives is to understand who are the stakeholders and how change will affect them from an insider point of view. That understanding will help show where gaps in skill and process exist so that they can be resolved before cloud adoption is put into effect.
All change, even for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomfort.
Perspectives identify a capability (What I do) in order to understand what skills and processes might be changed by cloud adoption; what I do may not change but how I do it will. This enables us to identify gaps in skills and where processes need to change, be updated or merged. The CAF process enables the creation of an Action Plan for prioritised changes in skill or process
